Second Award for South Lowestoft Relief Road
Saturday 30 June
J Breheny Contractors Ltd has won a second award for its work on the South Lowestoft Relief Road.
The Institution of Civil Engineers' (ICE) East of England Merit Award for Physical Achievement was presented to Breheny by Quentin Leiper, President of the ICE, at the Annual Awards Dinner which took place at Dunston Hall, Norwich, on Friday 29 June. The award was given for an "outstanding example of a Civil Engineering Work of Physical Achievement", with special mention given to the quality, approach and success of the integrated project team.
The award follows the presentation of a Considerate Constructors' Silver Award earlier this year. The Considerate Constructors Scheme is a national initiative, set up by the construction industry to improve its image. Its voluntary code commits contracts to be considerate and good neighbours, as well as clean, respectful, safe, environmental conscious, responsible and accountable.
Managing Director, Bill Mansfield, said "The South Lowestoft Relief Road has been one of our biggest projects to date and we put in place a number of measures to protect the environment and work with the community. I am delighted that the team's efforts have been recognised with these two prestigious awards, and would like to congratulate and thank everyone involved."
