Sid the Melon Promotes Safety to Schools (posted 11 Mar)
J Breheny Contractors Ltd has produced a new safety DVD featuring a watermelon, for schools and other youth groups.
The 6½ minute film was produced in-house by the Health and Safety Department and is narrated by Training Officer Ian Lawes. His son Ryan plays the part of a trespasser but the real star of the show is Sid the Melon who, throughout the film, is drowned, burnt, suffocated, dropped from height and squashed. Sid's misadventures illustrate the hidden dangers of construction sites and the possible consequences for anyone tempted to break in. Although the film is not designed to frighten children and even has its lighter moments, the image of Sid splattered on the ground, impaled or on fire, with the accompanying screams, cries and squelching noises, should convince anyone to keep well away.
The DVD will be available after the school Easter holidays. These will be distributed to schools near to Breheny sites and shortly available to watch on the website
