Needham Children on Track for Keeping Fit
Children at Needham Market Pre-school have enthusiastically welcomed the addition of a new playtrack in their garden, sponsored and constructed by J Breheny Contractors Ltd.
The official opening took place on 12 October when Breheny’s Chairman, John Breheny, cut the ribbon and presented Play Leader, Lucy Welham with a photo album showing various stages of the project. The Chairman then took the first trip round the track, closely followed by the children.
The playtrack is educational as well as fun. All bikes and cars have to be parked in the correctly numbered parking bay, and a zebra crossing helps to teach road safety.
At the presentation, Lucy said “The children love the new addition to our playground and have already been out there testing it. If they can’t get one of the bikes or cars, they just run round it or get a pram to push. The government recommends that children get at least one hour of exercise daily. If everyone had access to facilities like this from an early age, I’m sure this target would be met”.
The works were carried out by father and son Neil and Mark Riley. Both are Breheny employees and gave their time freely to the project over five weekends.
