Apprentices

During your apprenticeship we will equip you for a career with us in Civil Engineering. You will spend time in various departments to learn about the processes involved in the industry, including Health & Safety, estimating and quantity surveying, and will work with engineers on site to gain practical, hands-on experience.

Your experience will be supported by qualifications in Civil Engineering or Construction through day release at a local college. You will also be offered specialist training through our in-house courses and workshops.

We also support young people wishing to undertake a Civil Engineering Technician apprenticeship with the National Construction College at the CITB Training School at Bircham Newton, Norfolk. You will attend the school full-time for a year, and then work for Breheny during the summer to gain practical experience. The second year comprises six months at the school after which you will work on-site.

Whatever route you decide to take, you will have the opportunity to progress through the company. Some of our apprentices continue to work on site, others decide to take office-based jobs in areas such as estimating or land surveying. All are actively encouraged to continue with their training and development and many, at some stage, decide to carry on with their studies.

In addition to the Civil Engineering Technician Apprenticeship at the National Construction College there are various General Construction Apprenticeship courses which we also support.

If you are interested in applying for an Apprenticeship Scheme or would like to find out more, please contact Mr Gordon Edgar for Engineering or Mr Brian Lee for General Construction. Owing to Safety and working hours restrictions for young persons, we prefer applicants to be aged 18 or over.
