On November 6th the turf cutting ceremony for the commencement of works at Haverhill took place with a visit from Eric Pickles, the secretary of state for communities and local government. At the event Mr Pickles met representatives from the developer, Carisbrook Investments, St Edmundsbury Borough Council, MP for Brentwood and Ongar, the New Anglia and Greater Cambridge and Greater Peterborough Local Enterprise Partnerships and J Breheny Contractors Ltd, including our Chairman & CEO Mr John Breheny. He stated that the project “.is unlocking much needed local growth and getting the infrastructure and homes we need built.”
This £100m scheme at Hanchett End, a 12 hectare site situated in the west of Haverhill, is for the construction of a new high quality business and research park. The project will also see the construction of new commercial and residential properties. J Breheny Contractors are to construct the new infrastructure to serve this new development including the enabling works, access roads, platforms, cross overs, attenuation ponds, new incoming services and the underground drainage infrastructure. Our works, valued at approximately £2.7m, are programmed to take 26 weeks for completion by May 2013.
